RESULTS, SCHEDULE
* New Jersey 3, at Boston 1: Jamie Langenbrunner scored two goals to lift the Devils in a game played in front of about only 1,500 people because of a major snowstorm. Marc Savard had a power-play goal for the Bruins.
* at N.Y. Islanders 3, Phoenix 2: Bill Guerin scored two goals to lift the Islanders in a matchup of the NHL’s lowest-scoring teams. The Islanders came in with a league-low 66 goals, two fewer than Phoenix.
* Montreal 4, at Philadelphia 1: Mark Streit scored two goals, rookie goalie Carey Price made 29 saves and Tomas Plekanec had two assists for the Canadiens, who ended a two-game losing streak.
* Edmonton 4, at Detroit 3 (SO): Ales Hemsky scored the only goal of the shootout to help the Oilers end the Red Wings’ seven-game winning streak.
* Ottawa 4, at Pittsburgh 1: Dany Heatley scored two goals for the second night in a row and Jason Spezza also scored twice as the Senators won their fourth in a row. Their four consecutive wins followed a seven-game losing streak.
* Calgary 9, at Tampa Bay 6: Jarome Iginla and Kristian Huselius had three goals each. Iginla scored all his goals in the third period, giving him six career hat tricks. He broke a 6-6 deadlock with goals with 5:19 and 4:19 left in the period.
* Colorado 2, at Nashville 1: Ryan Smyth and Ian Laperriere scored third-period goals to lift the Avalanche. Goaltender Peter Budaj came within 21 seconds of his first shutout of the season before Alexander Radulov scored for the Predators.
* Florida 1, at St. Louis 0: Panthers goalie Tomas Vokoun stopped 33 shots and recorded his 24th shutout and Stephen Weiss scored the lone goal of the game at 1:10 of the second period. St. Louis’ Manny Legace returned in goal after missing four games with a knee injury. He stopped 24 shots.
* at San Jose 5, Vancouver 2: Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist, Evgeni Nabokov made 15 saves and the Sharks won for the sixth time in seven games to stay in a first-place tie with Dallas in the Pacific Division.
* at Dallas 4, Kings 1: The Stars’ Mike Ribeiro had two goals.
