Kudos and shame
Re “Surgical charity fills a need in L.A.,” Dec. 15
While applauding the work of Dr. Robert M. Shorr and his colleagues for providing needy Los Angelenos free gallbladder surgery, all Americans should be embarrassed and enraged that the same kind of charity medical care brought by heroic and altruistic medical professionals to such places as the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Guatemala is also needed here in the U.S.
