FedEx to boost rates next month
FedEx Corp., the second-largest U.S. package-delivery company, will increase general shipping rates for its FedEx Freight and National LTL units next month to help offset rising costs.
The freight unit will raise prices 5.5% effective Jan. 14, Memphis, Tenn.-based FedEx said. National LTL’s rate change, which wasn’t disclosed, probably would be “very close” to that figure, spokeswoman Debra Phillips said.
The rate increases, the third announced for 2008, came less than a week after FedEx reported a 6.3% drop in profit for the quarter ended Nov. 30.
