Questioning of suspects extended
From Times Wire Reports
British police were given an extra week to question nine men suspected of plotting to kidnap and kill a Muslim British soldier.
The men were held in raids in Birmingham on Wednesday under anti-terrorism laws that allow them to be held for up to 28 days with a judge’s permission.
Police in mainly South Asian neighborhoods handed out leaflets in English, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi and Urdu.
“We want to reassure you that the police are not targeting communities or faiths but suspected criminals,” they say.
