Suns set up historic sweep
The NBA’s top offensive team put a defensive stranglehold on the Indiana Pacers and could make some history because of it.
Steve Nash had 25 points and 11 assists and the Phoenix Suns rallied from 18 points down in the third quarter to beat the Pacers, 103-92, Tuesday night to move within one game of becoming the first team to sweep its road schedule against the opposite conference.
The Suns, who gave up only 13 points over the final 15 minutes, are 14-0 on the road this season against the Eastern Conference entering tonight’s game at Philadelphia.
Jermaine O’Neal led Indiana with 28 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots and tied his career high with seven assists.
Dallas 91, Minnesota 65 -- Dirk Nowitzki had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Josh Howard bounced back from a sprained ankle suffered the night before with 17 points to lead the visiting Mavericks to their 13th consecutive victory.
Kevin Garnett had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Minnesota, which shot a franchise-worst 29.6%.
Cleveland 97, New Orleans 89 -- LeBron James had 35 points, including two three-point baskets in the final minute, to put away the Hornets at Cleveland. David West had 25 points for New Orleans.
New Jersey 113, Washington 101 -- Jason Kidd had 26 points, nine assists and eight rebounds and the Nets made a club-record 16 three-point baskets at East Rutherford, N.J. Gilbert Arenas had 26 points for Washington, losers of three in a row.
Milwaukee 122, Golden State 101 -- Michael Redd scored 31 points in a victory at Milwaukee. Monta Ellis scored 17 points for Golden State.
