Looking chic in downtown

Dear god, downtown L.A. looks like the Left Bank in the ‘20s. Blame it on the thriving arts district. Seems all the guys and dolls are wearing berets and/or floppy apple caps. I spotted the artistes at Bordello, the sexy new burlesque-themed nightclub at the former Little Pedro’s. Bumped into cool lounge cat Joey Altruda there on Saturday night. Altruda was the house hype man for the evening, getting all the chapeau-wearing bon vivants amped up for a sweet burlesque show.... And speaking of the arts, tonight at the Standard Downtown, KidRobot is hosting a shindig as part of the hotel’s art series. The purveyor of cool toys is providing loads of candy, games and cushy playthings for guests. Since KidRobot does multiple tie-ins with fashionistas, look for name designers to be running amok.

Scenes from Sunset Strip

Hung out with Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister on Monday night at the Cat Club on the Strip. The “Ace of Spades” crooner rolled in with Slim Jim Phantom to catch a set by the Blacklist Royals, a Southern-tinged punk band straight out of the backwaters of Tennessee. Kilmister and Phantom, who just formed a rockabilly band with Captain Sensible of the Damned, had spent the earlier part of the evening DJing at Safari Sam’s in Hollywood.... Cutest girl on the Sunset Strip is 22-year-old Dawn Demone, who looks like a foxy hybrid of Pat Benatar and Joan Jett. Her band, Vette, packed the Cat Club on Monday.... The latest rage in the lesbian community is Ladies Night at Anarchy Library on Wednesdays. The punk bar in Downey hosts the feline affair, complete with wet T-shirt contests, go-go gals and DJ Perversive spinning ‘80s, new wave, Gothic, hip-hop and disco.

Some nightlife

at Sundance

The Alliance’s Josh Richman, Shane Powers and Hartwell just returned from their fifth year at Sundance’s “Village at the Lift,” where their annual karaoke party was a celebrity-drenched gala. Among those doing the dance were Robin Wright Penn, Josh Hartnett and Puffy, who each got within earshot of Sienna Miller singing “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’.” Also in attendance were Winona Ryder, Emile Hirsch and Harvey Weinstein.... Promoter-manager Dayle Gloria celebrated 30 years in Los Angeles on Tuesday with pals at Citizen Smith on Cahuenga.... Alt-country promoter Shilah Morrow brings her fab flow to the Derby in Los Feliz on Feb. 2, with performances by Mike Stinson, the Snakehandlers and Ted Russell Kamp, among others.... So sexy it hurts: Lovers need to check out Candlelight, a Simi Valley lounge offering breakfast in bed by candlelight every weekend starting on Feb. 1.
