To market, to market in Myanmar

AFTER a bumpy 12-hour trip through Myanmar, John Shih of Monterey Park entered the town of Taunggyi, where he came across this fish vendor at a farmers market shortly after sunrise. “I don’t speak Burmese,” Shih said. “I used hand signals.” Shih and his wife, Alice, were in Myanmar in the fall to visit childhood friends in her home country. He used a Nikon D70 for the shot.
