Metrolink train kills person lying on tracks
A Metrolink train struck and killed a person lying on the railroad tracks Monday night just east of the commuter line’s Baldwin Park station, authorities said.
No description of the victim was available, and it was not determined whether the death was a suicide.
The train, which left downtown Los Angeles at 9 p.m. and was bound for San Bernardino, struck the victim at 9:42.
The incident occurred in Baldwin Park near Pacific Avenue.
Denise Tyrrell, a Metrolink spokeswoman, said the train’s engineer saw the person lying on the track but could not stop the train in time.
