‘Electric exercise’ worked for her
Re: June 4’s “Slim Results for ‘Electric Exercise’?”: In 1943, I inquired about an ad claiming the writer could take inches off your body. I made an appointment and arrived at a house. The woman was very pleasant and introduced me to a machine called a “Relaxacizor.”
She assured me that I would lose inches in my waist, hips, buttock and thighs. I had to sign up for a six-week session, twice a week.
Since I was going to be married in three months, I signed.
There were six thick pads that were put in water, squeezed, then placed in round plastic holders. Electric wires from the box were fastened to each plastic holder. Two were placed on the hips and two under the buttocks as you lay naked on a massage table. One was placed under your back between your shoulders, the last one on your abdomen.
There was switch that she would turn on until you felt a slight tingle. Then she would gradually turn it up until your muscle was contracting only to the amount that you could tolerate. When the maximum tolerance was reached, she would cover you with a sheet for one half-hour. A half-hour on the machine was supposed to be the same as doing an exercise 1,000 times.
Believe it or not, it really worked for me. I took 2 inches off my waist and my hips. I don’t remember the other amounts. Later, I bought my own machine and I still have it!! I found that owning one did not generate the same amount of use as having an appointment that you had to keep. It was too easy to put off using it.
