A red flag on L.A. policing
Re “Number of complaints against LAPD employees rose last year,” June 6
Many residents have questioned the Los Angeles Police Department and its ability to live up to its motto: “To protect and to serve.” If the police force is growing every year, why is it that the numbers of employees who have been fired, quit under pressure or were suspended increased? This brings into question the stability of the police force. As a minority, I am concerned about the possibility of being mistreated, having heard various incidences of police brutality. Where is the Police Commission in creating stability, peace and unity within Los Angeles? We need more diligent, respectable and tough individuals who stay clear of discrimination. We need individuals who recognize human rights and recognize that we, too, are humans.
