Discovered remains could be 20 years old
Caltrans workers fixing a damaged fence Thursday uncovered human skeletal remains buried alongside the 91 Freeway that may have been there 20 years, authorities said.
“We’re treating it as a possible homicide,” said Sgt. Rick Martinez, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.
The bones, believed to be those of an adult, were found about 3 p.m. buried in the eastbound shoulder near the offramp to the 241 toll road, Martinez said.
“There are numerous bones in different sizes and pieces,” he said. “We believe it’s one person, but at this point it’s too early to tell.”
An anthropologist, assisted by police technicians, was expected to work at the site looking for additional bones, clothing or other evidence, Martinez said.
