New York 10, at Baltimore 4: Alex Rodriguez raised his major league-leading RBI total to 156, Wilson Betemit drove in three runs, and Jason Giambi and Bobby Abreu each had two RBIs for the Yankees. Abreu picked up his 101st RBI to reach at least 100 for the fifth straight year.

Minnesota 3, at Boston 2: In perhaps his final game with the Twins, free-agent Torii Hunter’s run-scoring double started a three-run first inning and Minnesota held on as the Red Sox rested their regulars for the playoffs. The Twins (79-83) finished with a losing record for the first time since 2000.

Cleveland 4, at Kansas City 2: The Indians’ Travis Hafner drove in two runs to reach 100 RBIs for the fourth straight year. Hafner put Cleveland in front, 2-0, with a two-run double in the third against Luke Hochevar (0-1), the top overall pick in the 2006 draft, who was making his first major league start.

Detroit 13, at Chicago 3: Magglio Ordonez won his first batting title, getting three more hits and leading the Tigers over the White Sox in a season finale between two disappointing teams. Ordonez raised his average three points to .363 and beat out Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki, who batted .351.

Tampa Bay 8, at Toronto 5: Carlos Pena hit his 46th home run, Jason Hammel (3-5) won for the first time in five starts and the Devils Rays (66-96) finished another dismal season. Tampa led the majors in losses for the second straight year and finished last in the AL East for the ninth time in 10 seasons.

at Seattle 4, Texas 2: Felix Hernandez (14-7) ended his season strong, holding the Rangers to four hits in 8 2/3 innings. J.J. Putz earned his career-high 40th save. Hernandez struck out eight, walking none and hitting a batter.

at Oakland 3, Angels 2: Huston Street (5-2) blew his fifth save, giving up his first earned run in 11 September outings on Kendry Morales’ home run, but still earned the victory.
