* Ball State 38, at Eastern Michigan 16: Nate Davis’ three touchdown passes helped the Ball State take a commanding 24-9 halftime lead. Davis threw four scoring passes in all.
* Buffalo 42, at Temple 7: Drew Willy completed 20 of 22 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Mario Henry gained 126 yards in 17 carries. Buffalo (1-1, 1-0 Mid-American), rolled up 414 yards of total offense.
* Southern Illinois 34, at Northern Illinois 31: Quarterback Nick Hill threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Justin Allen with seconds left to lift the Salukis at Dekalb.
* at Central Michigan 52, Toledo 31: Ontario Sneed rushed for a career-high three touchdowns and gained 168 yards for Central Michigan.
* at Southern Methodist 45, North Texas 31: Justin Willis completed 30 of 42 passes for a career-high 353 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 82 more yards for SMU. The Mustangs (1-1) almost squandered a 14-point fourth quarter lead, but Willis found Zach Sledge in the corner of the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown pass to give SMU a 38-31 lead with 4:19 left.
* at Army 14, Rhode Island 7 (OT): Carson Williams threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Justin Larson on the first play of overtime and the Army defense held Rhode Island out of the end zone. Army ended a seven-game losing streak by beating the Rams, a team from the Championship Subdivision.
* at Western Kentucky 87, West Virginia Tech 0: The Hilltoppers tied the record for most points in a quarter by a National Bowl Subdivision team, scoring 49 points in the first quarter against NAIA school West Virginia Tech.
* Ohio 31, at Louisiana Lafayette 23: Kalvin McRae ran for three second-half touchdowns as Ohio overcame a 10-point halftime deficit.
* Memphis at Arkansas State, ppd.: Lightning and heavy rain forced postponement at Jonesboro and the game will be made up Sept. 22.
