Getting the royal treatment

Just a day after celebrating his Emmy win last Sunday, Jeremy Piven kept the party going at the premiere of “The Kingdom” at the Mann’s Village Theatre in Westwood. But the “Entourage” star wasn’t the only one getting congratulatory busses for his good work. Fellow award show favorite 1. Jamie Foxx laid one on cast mate Chris Cooper, much to the amusement of, from left, a Valentino-clad Jennifer Garner, who flew in from rehearsals for the Broadway revival of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” director Peter Berg and producer Michael Mann. Also showing support: Garner’s BFF, Jean Louisa Kelly; Amanda Peet; Serena Williams; and Jada Pinkett Smith and hubby Will, who stars in Berg’s next movie. After the screening of the film, which deals with terrorism, guests lightened up with lamb kebabs at the Middle Eastern-tinged bash at the Hammer Museum.

Launching ‘Elah’ with a little élan

“IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH” had a très chic premiere at the Venice Film Festival, but for the low-key screening Sept. 13 in L.A., the film’s star Charlize Theron arrived by land and not sea. Still, she upped the glam factor in black satin Dior and vamp-red lips at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood for a Q&A; alongside director-screenwriter Paul Haggis. 2. Diane Lane stood by her man, Josh Brolin, who appears in the war flick, as does 3. Frances Fisher, who gets a hand from Theron (with Haggis). 4. Clint Eastwood buddied up to Remy Davis, mother of U.S. Army Spc. Richard Davis, a returning war veteran whose stateside murder inspired the making of the movie.

A festive air to benefit Cedars

At the Women’s Guild 50th Anniversary Gala on Sept. 15, some “Desperate Housewives” breathed life into the Cedars-Sinai fundraising affair at the Beverly Wilshire. Series creator Marc Cherry held court at a table with new Wisteria wife Dana Delany; this season’s gay couple, played by Kevin Rahm and Tuc Watkins; and mainstay Marcia Cross. Honorary gala committee member 5. Kirk Douglas, with wife Anne, chatted up artist Robert Graham, whose sculptures will raise money for the guild’s Pulmonary Disease Institute, while 6. Billy Crystal provided laughs with lines like “I worry about things as I get older. . . I worry that Britney will sing again. I worry that Jennifer Aniston won’t find a man. And I worry that Larry Craig will!” At evening’s end, 7. Cross marveled over the $1.7 million raised.
