Ravens...26 Cardinals...23
BALTIMORE -- Kyle Boller moved the Ravens into position for Matt Stover’s 46-yard field goal as time expired, and Baltimore beat the Arizona Cardinals, 26-23, Sunday.
Stover kicked four field goals and moved past Norm Johnson into fifth place on the NFL career scoring list with 1,745 points.
The Ravens (2-1) led, 23-6, but wilted in the final 15 minutes for a second game in a row. Kurt Warner rallied the Cardinals (1-2) to tie the score, 23-23, with 1 minute 50 seconds left.
That left it up to Boller, who replaced an ailing Steve McNair in the fourth quarter. Starting at the Baltimore 20, Boller completed five of five passes for 32 yards and the Ravens benefited from a penalty to get into position for Stover’s winning kick.
Warner replaced an ineffective Matt Leinart and was 15 for 20 for 258 yards and two touchdowns.
Quoteworthy: “It wasn’t a situation where Matt lost a job. It was Kurt did better with this package.” -- Ken Whisenhunt, Cardinals coach
