Family bank sets a good example

Really enjoyed the story on Farmers & Merchants Bank in Long Beach. (“Family tradition lends stability to bank,” March 30.)

What a shame they were not managing Countrywide Financial Corp. and Bear Stearns Cos. The management at family-run F&M; probably would not have seemed sexy enough for those high rollers. We need more people like the Walkers in charge in this country.
