Tampa Bay 6, at New York 3: Edwin Jackson held the Yankees to one run and five hits in six innings. “He had a really good slider today, mixed in the changeup,” Rays Manager Joe Maddon said of Jackson, a former Dodger. “He’s one of those guys, once he gets in the flow of the game he can be very tough.”

at Oakland 6, Cleveland 1: Dana Eveland, one of the players acquired from Arizona in the Dan Haren trade, yielded one run in seven innings to win for the first time in seven career starts. He was 0-3 with a 9.33 earned-run average as a starter for Milwaukee and Arizona, never lasting longer than 5 2/3 innings or yielding fewer than four runs.

at Toronto 10, Boston 2: The Blue Jays broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning. David Eckstein had a two-run single, Alex Rios an RBI double, Vernon Wells a run-scoring single and Frank Thomas a two-run homer.

at Minnesota 6, Kansas City 4: Livan Hernandez won his second consecutive American League start. He’s lasted seven innings in each outing, averaging 79 pitches, and hasn’t walked a batter.

at Baltimore 6, Seattle 4: Matt Albers pitched 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief and George Sherrill worked the ninth for his third save in three tries. Sherrill was acquired from the Mariners in the deal for Erik Bedard.

Chicago 5, at Detroit 3: The Tigers, the only winless team in the majors, are 0-5 for the first time since they dropped their first nine games in 2003 en route to an AL-record 119 losses.

at Angels 2, Texas 1: Jered Weaver became the sixth pitcher during the first week of the season to throw seven or more innings of shutout ball.
