Woman held in freeway shooting
Police have made an arrest in the car-to-car shooting death of a young woman near a freeway off-ramp.
Officer Jason Lee said Jessica Ortega, 30, of Ramona Gardens was arrested Friday in the slaying of 19-year-old Samantha Padilla.
The vehicle believed used in the shooting also was impounded.
Lee said detectives were continuing their investigation to see if there are other suspects.
Padilla was shot early Thursday while stopped at a traffic light at the end of an off-ramp from the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles. Lee said the shooting was not random and that Padilla was apparently targeted.
