Police kill man they say held gun
Officers responding to a complaint of loud music shot and killed a man who allegedly pointed a handgun at them early Saturday morning.
Torrance officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Torrance Boulevard shortly after 1 a.m.
As they walked up the stairs leading to a second-story unit, they saw a man holding the gun, according to Officer Dave Crespin.
Moments later, officers shot the suspect, who died at the scene.
Crespin said police recovered a loaded handgun near the man, and found a fully loaded assault rifle with extra magazines, along with other weapons and ammunition, in the living room of his residence.
The man’s name has not been released.
