Two men shot, killed on sidewalk
A man in a wheelchair and another man pushing him were shot to death on a Compton sidewalk about 1:30 Sunday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff’s deputies said the men, both Latinos, were killed in the 600 block of Alameda Street. A suspect’s vehicle was recovered later that afternoon in the 2000 block of 127th Street, Sheriff’s Deputy Aura Sierra said.
A sister and a neighbor identified the victim in the wheelchair as David Gallegos, 32, of Compton.
Lupe Gallegos, 14, said that her brother lived with her and her parents and that he was in a wheelchair because he had been shot about five years ago.
Gallegos said that her brother was not a gang member and that he was on his way to a restaurant when he was killed.
She said she did not know the identity of the man who was pushing him.
