* Cleveland 4, at Toronto 0: Cliff Lee worked eight shutout innings for his league-leading 16th win and the Indians completed a three-game sweep. Lee (16-2) also lowered his earned-run average to 2.45, moving him ahead of Oakland’s Justin Duchscherer (2.51) for the major league lead.

* at Detroit 6, Oakland 1: Nate Robertson (7-8) earned his first victory since June 21, yielding five hits in 7 2/3 innings. He retired 11 in a row before Jack Hannahan doubled with one out in the eighth. “There’s plenty of games that I pitched well,” he said. “I just tried to go out and pitch well again. That’s it.”

* Texas 15, at Baltimore 7: Held to one run in their previous three games, the Rangers matched their season high with 20 hits. Ian Kinsler led the offense with five hits, and he had three RBIs. Josh Hamilton hit his 28th homer for the Rangers, a three-run drive that increased his major league lead in RBIs to 111.

* at Chicago 6, Boston 5: The Red Sox jumped ahead on Mike Lowell’s three-run homer in the first inning, but the struggling Clay Buchholz (2-8) couldn’t hold it. He is 0-6 in his last eight starts.

* at Kansas City 5, Minnesota 4 (12 innings): Tony Pena Jr. broke out of a slump at just the right time, driving in Mark Teahen with the winning run in the 12th. Pena ended an 0-for-17 drought with a one-out single in the 11th, then followed Teahen’s double with a single.

* Tampa Bay 11, at Seattle 3: Willy Aybar and Shawn Riggans, the Nos. 8 and 9 hitters in the Rays’ lineup, both hit three-run homers.

* at Angels 4, New York 3: Mariano Rivera has yielded seven earned runs and 19 hits in 21 1/3 innings during his 19 non-save situations.
