Every year the Autry National Center’s Native Voices program stages a world premiere play by a promising Native American playwright. Larissa FastHorse -- who is half Lakota -- gets the 2008 nod. Her play “Teaching Disco Dancing to Our Elders: A Class Presentation” draws on her humorous and painful coming of age experiences.”It’s important that kids and adults understand that the Lakota people are contemporary,” says FastHorse, “that they’re alive today and that they’re just like everybody else.” Pictured: Noah Watts and Tonantzin Carmelo. 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 2 p.m. Sat.-Sun.; 11:30 a.m. student matinees Tue., Wed., Fri., through March 2, Los Feliz. $20-$12.
