Very low income homes for marina
County supervisors unanimously voted Wednesday to require new development in Marina del Rey to include affordable-housing units for very low income tenants.
The decision will add an additional 192 affordable housing apartments in the marina over the next few years as developers complete new projects for the county-owned waterfront property.
The county leases the land to developers and receives a portion of the rental income.
Affordable-housing advocates lobbied the board in recent weeks to support the proposal, which replaces a draft proposal from last year that did not include assistance for very low income tenants.
