Tennis: A Morning Briefing item in Wednesday’s Sports section said that in 1997, Martina Hingis -- at 16 years, 278 days -- had become the youngest women’s singles champion at Wimbledon in any era. In 1887, 15-year-old Charlotte “Lottie” Dod won the singles title.
