A NIGHT AT THE MANSION
Downtown’s other large new venue, Crash Mansion, has been around since June. But the 1,200-capacity room is only now celebrating its official opening with a special show by alt-rock act the Bravery. The 14,000-square-foot multipurpose nightclub, located near the Staples Center, poached Key Club booker Roger LeBlanc last year, and he’s stepping up his talent buying. On Friday, Boyz II Men headlines, and upcoming gigs include Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Paul Wall and the Coup. But the L.A. outpost of this New York club has also featured German techno DJ Tobias Thomas, as well as the likes of Tommy Lee (pictured at his December engagement). USC students and downtown’s loft-dwelling hipsters are slowly warming up to the remodeled venue (formerly the Grand Avenue and other clubs). Hosted cocktails will be served to early arrivals. Crash Mansion Grand Opening featuring the Bravery and the Switches. Sat. $25. 1024 S. Grand Ave., L.A. (213) 747-0999
