Agent: Stoudamire will join the Spurs
Point guard Damon Stoudamire, bought out of his contract and released this week by the Memphis Grizzlies, will sign with the San Antonio Spurs later this week, his agent told ESPN.com on Wednesday.
The Spurs are thin at the position after losing Tony Parker indefinitely because of a bone spur in his left heel, leaving Jacques Vaughn as the starter. Stoudamire, 34, averaged 7.3 points and 3.9 assists this season with Memphis.
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao will miss up to four weeks because of a left ankle sprain with bone bruises suffered Sunday against the Lakers. . . . Toronto Raptors point guard T.J. Ford, who hasn’t played since suffering a leg-arm stinger in a nasty fall Dec. 11 against Atlanta, is close to practicing again, but there is still no timetable for his return to games.
