Were men all this ‘Mad’?

After reading your excellent article on “Mad Men,” I was so intrigued that I watched the program that very evening. While I enjoyed the acting, the clothes, etc., I was somewhat appalled at the portrayal of the men, especially. They were mostly portrayed as “pigs” in their treatment of women, and while I was working during that period, I do not remember it as being that outrageous.
