Tampa Bay 3, at Toronto 2: Carlos Pena homered and the Rays completed a 4-3 trip, winning for the fourth time in six road games after losing seven in a row away from home. Tampa Bay leads the East by three games.
Kansas City 4, at Oakland 3 (10 innings): Jose Guillen drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning and the Royals completed their first three-game sweep in Oakland in 20 years. The slumping Athletics fell to 2-10 since the All-Star break.
Chicago 8, at Minnesota 3: Carlos Quentin hit his league-leading 28th homer and Gavin Floyd (11-6) held the Twins to five hits and one run over 7 2/3 innings as the White Sox stretched their division lead over Minnesota to 1 1/2 games.
at Texas 4, Seattle 3: Josh Hamilton has 104 runs batted in after hitting his 25th home run.
Detroit 14, at Cleveland 12 (13 innings): The Tigers, who trailed, 8-1, after three innings, had 22 hits, five by Curtis Granderson.
Angels 9, at Boston 2: Mark Teixeira went 0 for 4, but the Angels are on pace for 101 victories.
