Philadelphia 20, at St. Louis 2: Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell hit consecutive home runs in the first inning. The 20 runs tied the major league high for the season, set by the Phillies on May 26 at home against the Colorado Rockies.

at Cleveland 9, San Diego 5: The Indians waited out a long rain delay, then rallied to beat the Padres. Rick Bauer got the final out on Saturday morning -- six hours and 15 minutes after the 7:05 p.m. start.

at Baltimore 9, Pittsburgh 6: The Pirates built a 6-1 lead in the third inning, and at that juncture it appeared they would reach .500 at the latest point in a season since they were 67-67 on Sept. 1, 1999.

at Toronto 3, Chicago Cubs 2: The Cubs lost a series-opening game for the first time since May 5 at Cincinnati. They had won their last 10 series-opening games

at N.Y. Mets 7, Texas 1: Oliver Perez pitched seven crisp innings and also drove in two runs to win for the first time since May 18. He struck out David Murphy to leave the bases loaded in the sixth inning.

N.Y. Yankees 2, at Houston 1: Leading off the eighth inning, Derek Jeter hit the second pitch he saw from Doug Brocail into the right-field seats.

at Chicago White Sox 5, Colorado 4: Ian Stewart hit two solo homers and Willy Tavares and Brad Hawpe also homered -- the most homers for the Rockies since they hit four against the Dodgers on Sept. 19.

at Tampa Bay 7, Florida 3: The first of six games between intrastate teams drew a crowd of only 19,312 to Tropicana Field, even though both are off to terrific starts that have them in second place in their divisions.

at Cincinnati 3, Boston 1: Jay Bruce and Adam Dunn hit solo homers and right-hander Aaron Harang got his first victory since May 12, having lost his last four starts.

Minnesota 10, at Milwaukee 2: Kevin Slowey pitched eight effective innings and hit a two-run single for his first career RBIs.

at Arizona 1, Kansas City 0 (10 innings): Chad Tracy homered on an 0-2 pitch with one out in the bottom of the 10th.

Washington 7, at Seattle 6: Jesus Flores had a two-run double and Ronnie Belliard a two-run single during a six-run second inning for the Nationals.

Oakland 5, at San Francisco 1: Barry Zito (2-10) was attempting to win consecutive starts for the first time this season.

at Detroit 5, Dodgers 0: The Dodgers fell five games under .500 for the first time this season.

Atlanta 5, at Angels 2: Chone Figgins, who sat out 33 of the Angels’ previous 34 games because of an injured right hamstring, was one for two in his first game back.
