Three get life for robbery, rape
A judge sentenced three men Friday to prison for life for a home invasion and gang-rape of two 18-year-old college students in Mission Beach in 2006.
A jury had convicted Willie Louis Watkins, 32, Donald Duante Smith, 21, and Antonio Washington, 19, of 76 felonies in the attack on the University of San Diego students.
Superior Court Judge John S. Einhorn sentenced the three to terms of 316 years to life.
The three were linked to the rapes through DNA evidence. Evidence at trial indicated they took cash, credit cards and cellphones from the victims.
