MY FAVORITE WEEKEND

KAITLIN OLSON just marked the fourth-season premiere of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” a “Seinfeld”-esque sitcom about an Irish pub that’s proven to be a strong Thursday night entry for FX. The series has also worked out nicely for Olson in another way -- she just married costar (and series creator) Rob McElhenney. The couple will live in Sherman Oaks but still have strong ties to their old haunts in Venice and Santa Monica.

Venice nights: On Friday nights, Rob is usually working late, so I’ll go out to dinner with a girlfriend to one of the new places on Abbot Kinney, like Gjelina. Really cool atmosphere, very cozy, with big wooden tables to sit around. They have California cuisine and an amazing cheese plate. Just down the street is a good place to end up, a tapas/wine bar called Primitivo.

Stuffed: On Saturday morning, I’ll walk my dog on the beach and then go to 26 Beach Cafe on Washington. They have about 700 different kinds of French toast. I like the Monte Cristo, and Rob and I will share it so we don’t feel like throwing up afterward.

Kickoff time: On Saturday afternoons, since I’m a University of Oregon Duck and it’s football season, I’ll throw something into the Crock-Pot and we’ll sit around eating and watching my Ducks play.

On Robertson: I got my wedding dress at Les Habitudes on Robertson, and because I had to go there so often for fittings and things, I ended up walking around a bit and discovered other cool shops in the neighborhood, like Lisa Kline and Kitson, and maybe meet someone for lunch at Newsroom Cafe. It’s a great area.

So SoCal: On Saturday night, if we were, say, entertaining people from out of town, we might take them to the Lobster on the pier in Santa Monica. It’s got a great view, good food and it gives them a taste of Southern California.

Eagles’ nest: On Sunday morning, we always head to the Shack on Wilshire in Santa Monica. It’s a Philadelphia Eagles bar, so we do that for my husband because that’s his team. And after doing this for a couple of years, I must admit that I’m a huge Eagles fan now.

That’s a wrap: In the evening we’ll go see a movie at the Bridge, which is a really awesome theater, and grab something to eat at Wabi-Sabi on Abbot Kinney. As you can tell, we’re kind of homebodies. . . . Our lives basically revolve around eating and football.
