CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LOS ANGELES
The troubled son of actors Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Fawcett -- already behind bars for allegedly trying to sneak drugs into a jail -- is now facing three years in state prison for violating the terms of a drug diversion program in another case.
An official from a residential treatment facility where Redmond O’Neal was living told a Superior Court judge Friday that O’Neal tested positive for methamphetamine use, and another test detected the presence of heroin in his room at the facility.
O’Neal, 24, was in the facility while on probation for a January 2008 drug case, one of three drug-related arrests in the last year. Judge Nancy Newman revoked his eligibility for bail and set sentencing on two felony counts for next Friday.
He also is to be arraigned April 24 for possession of an illegal substance in a jail facility.
