CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA
A woman was arrested Friday after leading authorities on a high-speed chase on several freeways, authorities said.
The chase started shortly after 6 a.m. in the Long Beach area after police responded to a domestic dispute and the driver “used a vehicle to assault police officers,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Gabe Montoya.
The CHP took over the pursuit, which covered about 40 miles, on the 22 Freeway east and the 55 and 241 freeways in Orange County, authorities said. The chase ended in the Rancho Santa Margarita area just before 7 a.m., Montoya said.
No other motorists were injured, although at one stage the driver headed the wrong way on the freeway.
