LETTERS
I’m not surprised the venerable series “CSI” is faltering after the betrayal of its fans in creating a terrible replacement character for William L. Petersen’s entomologist [Quick Takes, Jan. 24].
Though no fault of new cast member Laurence Fishburne, his college professor character is woefully inadequate as a crime scene investigator and a total insult to the series’ years of good work. Having to explain to him how to collect fingerprints is absurd. It’s as if one of the headshrinkers from “Criminal Minds” got a job doing evidence collection; these are two separate and distinct disciplines.
Audiences know that; why don’t the producers?
