Doesn’t hold water

Re “Use less and pay more,” Opinion, Feb. 24

No doubt about it, we are in dry times. But what are we trying to sustain by using less and paying more?

William Patzert and

Timothy F. Brick never

mention sustaining our environment. Instead, they suggest sustainability as being able to supply water to 200,000 new residents a year, and paying for added infrastructure and desalination of ocean water with an increase in prices -- leading to the degradation of our air, waterways and land.

That’s not an ecologically sustainable position, nor a compelling argument.
