Shame on O.C. board
Re “O.C. acts to halt Planned Parenthood pact,” March 11
I am ashamed of the Orange County Board of Supervisors’ decision to suspend a contract with Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties for health education programs. The supervisors cited personal religious and moral objections to abortion.
Abortions make up a very small percentage of Planned Parenthood’s services. Its mission is to provide accurate reproductive-related education and contraception. It gives patients information about every medically appropriate option for a given situation. It’s conceivable that Planned Parenthood’s expert care and education have prevented more abortions than any other medical provider in Orange County.
The Board of Supervisor’s vote to ax this contract is one of the most misguided decisions I have ever heard.
