Rare antiques at rare new prices

Europa, one of the more upscale antiques galleries on Summerland’s design-centric Lillie Avenue, is offering 35% reductions on all of its inventory, except rugs, through June 15. The store carries Continental Baroque furniture, religious sculpture, folk art and decorative accessories. One 19th century urn from Puebla, Mexico -- an example of the hand-painted earthenware known as talavera -- departs from the traditional blue and white floral patterns with a lustrous black glaze that emphasizes the fulsome shape and ornamental handles.
