Thank you, Kathryn Wilkens, for your exquisite essay; my eyes are still teary after reveling in your beautiful tribute to your fallen fig tree, and to nature.

In this lovely ode, you bring out what is really important and precious in life.

Above all, I treasure your final sentence: “We humans are powerless against nature’s destructive forces, but to appeal to her benevolent side, we replant.”
