He was a work of art
Re “Henry T. Hopkins, 1928-2009: Curator had formative role in L.A. arts,” Obituary, Sept. 29
A fond farewell to professor Henry Hopkins.
Those of us who had the pleasure of attending his art appreciation lecture series at the Hammer Museum will long remember his intelligence, historical perspective and delightful sense of humor.
The word spread, and each week the classroom seemed to be more densely occupied than the previous week.
Many years afterward, I happened to see him in Westwood, and I told him how much I had enjoyed his lectures. He was very modest and seemed surprised that they were still remembered.
