So chic, so Fekkai
Frederic Fekkai, the suave French hairstylist, opens the doors to his newly renovated salon on chic Melrose Place on Wednesday.
The Melrose Place location becomes Fekkai’s West Coast flagship, taking over from his Beverly Hills’ spot, which is scheduled to close.
The 2,400-square-foot full-service salon is situated in a loft made softer with brown leather banquettes, silk pillows and nickel lamps. The ample space allows for private rooms that cater to bridal showers and other small fetes. An outdoor terrace overlooking the garden-like Melrose Place salon can be used as an alfresco setting for manicures ($32) and pedicures ($65).
“I love the sophistication and style of that neighborhood,” Fekkai says of Melrose.
The salon will be open five days a week and provide haircuts (from $125), blowouts (from $65), relaxers (from $225) and coloring (from $135), plus brow waxing (from $40) and makeup application ($75). A retail boutique on the ground floor sells the signature product line.
Fekkai’s Melrose Place flagship will mark its opening with a special promotion to benefit the Art of Elysium, a nonprofit that helps seriously ill children. Fekkai himself will offer his signature haircut to first-time patrons for an introductory price of $200 (regularly priced up to $1,000), with 100% of net proceeds benefiting the organization, which encourages working actors, artists and musicians to donate time and talent to cheer children battling serious medical conditions.
The cuts will be offered Oct. 26 through Nov. 5. To schedule an appointment, call the Melrose Place salon and mention “Elysium.”
