“Top Chef” Ilan Hall has been shut down.

Hall’s new restaurant in downtown L.A., the Gorbals, will close temporarily after being cited by the county health department for an equipment violation involving the boiler system. The restaurant from the Season 2 winner of Bravo’s “Top Chef” opened Friday. (The Times ran an article about it in Monday’s Calendar section.)

A rep for Hall says that the Gorbals staff would call people holding reservations, but a reopening date has not been set.

A statement from Hall’s camp said, “The installation and maintenance of the boiler system has been an ongoing issue. . . . We are now submitting plans to reinstall and manage the system ourselves in an effort to effectively (and finally) correct the violation.”
