at Tampa Bay 8, Boston 5: Pat Burrell broke an eighth-inning tie with an RBI single and Evan Longoria followed with a two-run homer for the Rays. Eight of Longoria’s 26 homers this season have come against the Red Sox.

Chicago 4, at Minnesota 2: Joe Nathan gave up back-to-back home runs to Gordon Beckham and Paul Konerko with two outs in the ninth inning, and the White Sox scored four times against the Twins’ closer.

at Detroit 4, Cleveland 2: Magglio Ordonez had three hits and Placido Polanco scored twice to help the Tigers beat the Indians, who made five errors.

at Oakland 10, Kansas City 4: Landon Powell hit his first career grand slam as part of a five-run second inning for the Athletics.
