On the air: FSC, FSE — AM 1150, AM 1330 (Spanish)
Update: For a match that won’t count in the standings, this one sure has a lot going for it. For starters, it will mark the final appearance for U.S. soccer legend Clint Mathis, who will retire following the exhibition. Then there’s the opponent, Real Madrid, soccer’s version of the New York Yankees. The sport’s richest team has a roster that not only features five members of the Spanish team that won this summer’s World Cup, but one that also includes Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored the winning goal in Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory over Mexico’s Club America on Wednesday in San Francisco. The Galaxy, coming off a 2-1 CONCACAF Champions League victory over Puerto Rico on Wednesday, will counter with Mathis — for a few minutes, at least — and U.S. World Cup veterans Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle. A crowd approaching 90,000 is expected.
