POP MUSIC
Sonic Youth After 20 years of major label releases, the fuzz-laden, no-wave legend has returned to its indie-rock roots with its latest release, “The Eternal,” from Matador Records. Expect to hear budding classics such as “Sacred Trickster” and “Poison Arrow” alongside a few select oldies. The Fox Theater Pomona, 301 S. Garey Ave. 7 p.m. $30 advance, $32 doors. www.foxpomona.com.
The Happy Hollows The perennially tipped-for-success Silver Lake indie-rock trio just released its best work yet, the twisty and frantic yet perpetually melodic album “Spells.” Live, the group’s usually never less than incendiary. The Viper Room, 8852 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, 8:30 p.m. $15.
COMEDY
Sarah Silverman Leave it to Silverman on her hilarious TV show to shock God himself with her unabashed narcissism -- and did we mention that she also sleeps with him? Season 3 of “The Sarah Silverman Program” premieres Feb. 4, but until then, we’ll have to make do with intimate Largo appearances like this one. The Largo at Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., L.A. 8:30 p.m. $25. (310) 855-0347.
