Zsa Zsa Gabor ‘a little better’ but still in critical condition, husband says
Zsa Zsa Gabor is “doing a little better” but still in critical condition, her husband said Saturday morning.
Gabor fell at her home last week and had hip surgery Monday. Her husband, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, said that Gabor, who was at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, was able to speak a few words Saturday morning but still did not respond to questions. She received a blood transfusion Friday night.
The 93-year-old actress fell in the bedroom of her Beverly Hills home July 17 as she tried to answer a phone call. She injured her hip and also may have suffered a concussion, her publicist, John Blanchette, said.
After her surgery Monday, Gabor “wasn’t talking” and “wasn’t aware of what was going on,” Blanchette said.
“It wasn’t a normal recovery, and the doctors were concerned,” he said.
Doctors have tried switching Gabor’s pain medication, Blanchette said. For the last three days she had not been able to swallow food or liquids, but her doctors hoped she soon would be able to eat, Von Anhalt said.
The actress has been visited by Von Anhalt and Francesca Hilton, her daughter from a previous marriage.
