‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ rounds out its cast
The beloved erotic bestseller “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James is going to be a movie someday. Despite some rocky starts -- its original Christian Grey backed out citing scheduling conflicts -- the film is in production now, with Jamie Dornan as Grey and Dakota Johnson as willing coed Anastasia Steele.
On Tuesday it was announced that Marcia Gay Harden has joined the cast. The Oscar winner will play Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, Christian Grey’s adoptive mother. Her maternal counterpart -- Anastasia’s mom -- will be played by Jennifer Ehle, remembered by Jane Austen fans for her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennett in the BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice.”
There have got to be a few fans of both Austen and “Fifty Shades of Grey.” Maybe more than a few.
Other actors who have recently joined the cast include British singer Rita Ora as Grey’s sister and Max Martini as the head of his security team.
Others in the cast include Eloise Mumford as Anastasia’s roommate, Victor Rasuk as her friend Jose, and Luke Grimes as Grey’s brother.
The movie began shooting in Vancouver on Sunday. It’s slated for release Feb. 13, 2015.
