Jerry Sandusky reportedly writing a book in jail

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky is working on a book with his wife, according to Johnston, Pa., television station WJAC.

Sandusky is at the Centre County Correctional Facility in Bellefonte, Pa., awaiting sentencing. He was convicted in June of 45 counts of child sex abuse.

Sundusky has been published before. His first book was a memoir, 2001’s “Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story.”

Sandusky was accused of abusing 10 boys over 15 years. The prosecution presented 21 witnesses to support its contention that Sandusky was a predatory pedophile; his victims came from the charity he had founded for at-risk children. During the high-profile trial, witnesses testified in graphic detail, yet Sandusky’s wife Dottie insisted that she never saw any inappropriate behavior and he continues to maintain his innocence.

Dottie Sandusky is reportedly helping her husband with the book-in-progress. “Sources said there has been so much paperwork exchanged between Jerry and Dottie, that Dottie has had her written correspondence privileges suspended by prison officials,” WJAC reported. Sandusky is reportedly being provided with the paper and pens, or whatever he’s using to write with, by the prison, the WJAC sources said.

Initially Sandusky was thought to be working on a statement to be shared publicly when he is sentenced in September. The Washington Post writes, “Earlier this month, Sandusky’s lawyer, Joe Amendola, said that his client is spending much of his time writing his account of events and that he expected Sandusky to speak at his sentencing.”

Amendola added, “He continues to believe that the truth will come out at some point, and that he’ll get another trial or another opportunity to establish his innocence.”

Although a convicted prisoner cannot profit from writing about his crime, there might be interest in a second book from Sandusky. “Touched” now sells on Amazon for as much as $400.
