First Look: 2014 Honda Gold Wing Valkryie
Honda is betting heavy on the relaunch of its Gold Wing Valkyrie heavyweight hauler.
This one, unveiled by Honda with much ceremony at an invitation-only event Monday night, is a high-performance monster. It features a water-cooled, six-cylinder, 1800cc power plant, teamed with computer-controlled rear suspension, massive ABS-enabled disc brakes, and a big 6-gallon gas tank -- hitting the road at an estimated 750 pounds.

Said to pack more than 100 horsepower, it’s not just a cruiser. It’s a muscle cruiser.
With the market increasingly crowded with increasingly bigger motorcycles, Honda is looking to expand on its already-successful Gold Wing line with this reinvention of the Valkryie brand -- which the company introduced to the U.S. market in 1996 and discontinued in 2003.
It’s the second big-bike reveal for Honda in the last few weeks. The company earlier this month unveiled its more genteel new cruiser, the CTX1300.
The bikes will be in dealerships next April. What will it cost to own one? Honda isn’t saying officially, but expect a price tag of around $17,000, roughly the same as the CTX1300.
