L.A. Auto Show preview: Acura to unveil all-new RLX
Honda’s luxo-nameplate Acura will use the 2012 L.A. Auto Show to bring back some much-needed chutzpah to the brand.
The company plans to unveil an all-new flagship sedan, which it will call the RLX. Unlike fellow Japanese luxury brands like Infiniti and Lexus, Acura’s king kahuna will be front-wheel drive and powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine making 310 horsepower.
Other goodies on this 2014 model include four-wheel steering, a collision-avoidance system, lane-keeping assist, LED headlamps and a smartphone app enabling remote locking and unlocking and alarm notification.
If the RLX nameplate sounds familiar, it’s likely because you remember Acura’s RL flagship, which made an unceremonious exit from the marketplace in 2011.
The car will be revealed on the first of two press days at the L.A. Auto Show on Nov. 28, which we’ll be covering live. The show will be open to the public from Nov. 30- Dec. 9.
