Ural unveils new Gaucho Rambler, blanket by Pendleton

Russian-owned IMZ-Ural has unveiled the latest in its curious line of sidecar motorcycles, this one in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest’s fabled Pendleton textile company.

The Ural Gaucho Rambler, in a nod to cowboys and the legacy of the Old West, comes painted in Pacific Blue and draped in saddlebag-themed, “sunburnt” colored canvas. Standard equipment also includes a rolled “Journey West” woolen blanket from Pendleton, and an “outdoors cook kit” complete with coffee pot, coffee cups, plates and a skillet.

The legendary Ural is one of the world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers, and produces a stable of sturdy, imaginatively themed three-wheelers. (There’s a couple of non-sidecar two-wheelers in the line, too.)The Ural Yamal, inspired by a famed Russian ice-breaking ship, came equipped with a paddle. The Ural Gear Up comes with a folding camp shovel.

Many, like the Gaucho, feature on-demand two-wheel drive -- for off-road use, with both real wheels engaged. All are known for their rugged engineering and head-turning retro design.

Only 50 units of the 2013 Gaucho Rambler will be manufactured, Ural says. They’ll go on sale for an MSRP of $14,350.
